5 Things to Remember Prior to Your Cell Phone Repair in Philadelphia

One of the most common causes why people need a cell phone repair in Philadelphia is when their electronic device gets wet. While it is indeed a must that you go and ask an expert to fix it, there are some basic cellphone troubleshooting steps you can already do on your own:

Step 1. Get the device out of the water and turn it off immediately to avoid short circuit. If the wall charger where the phone is connected to is submerged in water, seek a professional to guide you in removing the phone.

Step 2. Once out of the water, place your cellphone on some paper towels or any soft, clean cloth. While it’s safely laid there, remove the battery cover and then the battery. In case you do not know how, check your phone’s manual for instructions. To check if it is further damaged, look at the corner near the battery. If it has a white circle or square, with or without the red lines, then it is not damaged. However, if it’s pink or red then your battery may be damaged.

Step 3. Get the SIM card, memory card, phone case, and protective covers out. This is important in order to allow air-drying through gaps and slots in the device.

Step 4. Be gentle with your phone by wiping off as much water as you can. Do not shake your phone too much so that the water will not spread and corrode or affect the circuits. Never blow-dry it as hair dryers push the water deeper and may cause component failure or meltdown.

Another way to draw the moisture out is by placing the device in substances that have high affinity, like a bowl of uncooked rice or Rice Krispies cereal for example. Alternatively, you can just cover the phone with paper towels overnight. Flip the device hourly before going to sleep. This allows the water inside to find an opening to get out of the device. Then the following day, place them on absorbent towels/napkins. If there is still some moisture, then repeat this step.

Step 5. Finally, check your phone and see if everything is clean and dry. From the ports and the compartments, to the battery and covers, see if everything is functioning accordingly.

If you’ve done all these steps and your phone is still not working, then that’s the time you must call an expert like Scorpion Computers, who offers various services for electronic devices, including iPad repair in Philadelphia.
